Wheels for April 22 by John Kanelis
Dr. Reagan Crosnoe walked us through the various forms of arthritis that are plaguing, ummm, some of us in the Club. His key advice? "Weight loss is critical," Reagan said, as it "decreases the pounds for square inch and takes pressure off our knees." His health advice is to stay active and try to avoid narcotics, which he said "have a limited effect on joints." The best medicine to take simply is Tylenol, he said. Thanks for the advice, Doc.
Pay to Say drew in some big bucks this week as Cal Harriman passed the hat and invited us to say something about anything on our minds and in our hearts. The payoff is that the money will go toward Polio Plus.
Our ranks grew by one this week, as Bob Juba came back into Rotary. Bob, a financial adviser with Merrill Lynch, was introduced by Madison Scott. Bob comes to us under the classification of Security Brokerage. Welcome to the Club, Bob -- and welcome back to Rotary.
A new staff of Rotarians will be taking over the Wheels writing assignments beginning in July. The staff includes Denise Blanchard, Julie Ontiveros and Mollie Barney. One holdover, John Kanelis, remains. Our first alternate for the coming year will be Mike Good, who will pitch in when needed. Many thanks to Jill Bempong and Renee Wilson who, along with Mike, comprised the Wheels staff for the past couple of years. Thanks for all you have done. And welcome aboard, Denise, Julie and Mollie. Thanks for all you do.
And give thanks to Dick Marcear for a great round of programs in April.
While we're in a thanking mood, many thanks go to our greeters, Cal Harriman, Johnny Crowley and Jeff Neely; thanks to Denise Blanchard for the invocation and thanks to Chip Lindsey for introducing guests and visiting Rotarians. And Molly Barney earns thanks for selling tickets to the Rotary Foundation drawing -- which now has more than 2 Grand in the pot. Someone's got to draw that Ace of Spades.
